American Friends Service Committee The Union’s Health and Safety Committee met with Jerry Roseman, an industrial hygienist, to educate the union committee members on what to watch out for while the AFSC is renovating 1501 Cherry Street, for the purpose of making it fossil fuel free building. The Union’s Health and Safety Committee will be meeting to review our concerns and schedule a walk-through of the building once AFSC begins the renovations. The union coordinating committee has been meeting to stay abreast with AFSC management while they contemplate restructuring various departments and positions. Many members of the union’s coordinating committee have volunteered to serve on transitional AFSC committees, to ensure proper representation from the rank-and-file workforce. Jewish Community Centers The Board of Directors of the JCC’s met to determine the future of the Agency. At this meeting, it was the sense of the board, that in order for the JCC’s to survive, they will have to decentralize the branches. Therefore, within the next two years, the Klien Branch and the Kaiserman Branch will become two separate organizations. Our labor contract expires with the JCC’s on September 15, 2009. We may have to negotiate two separate bargaining agreements or one that covers both branches. |
