| Section
8 Use of these Other Personnel
Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as limiting the AFSC’s ability
at its option
to utilize temporary or casual personnel, volunteers, independent contractors
or other
miscellaneous non-bargaining unit workers. However, the AFSC agrees that
the use of
temporary or casual personnel, volunteers, independent contractors or other
miscellaneous non-bargaining unit workers shall not directly result in the
displacement
or replacement of an active Employee, except that if an Employee is terminated
or laidoff,
or has resigned or retired, if then a volunteer agrees to perform the functions
of the
position formerly held by the Employee, the AFSC shall be permitted to utilize
the
volunteer.
Section 9 Displacing of Other Personnel
Nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as permitting or enabling an
Employee to
displace temporary or casual personnel, volunteers, independent contractors
or other
miscellaneous non-bargaining unit workers unless a grievance that questions
the
correct use of persons in the listed categories is sustained.
Section 10 Definition of “Employee” vs. “employee”
Whenever “Employee” is referred to in this Agreement, it shall refer to
an individual
employed within one of the Bargaining Units. When “employee” is referred
to in this
Agreement, it shall refer to any individual employed within the AFSC at the
National
Office.
