ARTICLE I
PURPOSE

It is the purpose of this Agreement to promote and insure harmonious relations, cooperation
and understanding between the University and the employees covered hereby, to insure true
collective bargaining, and to establish proper standards of wages, hours, working conditions, and
other conditions of employment.

ARTICLE II
RECOGNITION

Section 1. The University recognizes Local No.54, affiliated with the American Federation of
State, County, and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, and its District Council No. 47 as the
exclusive representative of the University Campus Dining Services employees.

Section 2. For the purpose of this Agreement, the term "employee" and "employees" shall
include those job classifications, which are listed in Article XVII, Section 1. Also included are
all employees who work twenty (20) hours or more per week. Employees working less than
twenty (20) hours per week, including students, are not covered by this Agreement. The
employment of students is to the extent applicable covered by Item No. 1 of the Memorandum of
Agreement dated September 21, 1982, which is set forth in Appendix C, UNDERSTANDINGS,
No. 2. The employment of "temporary employees" shall be covered by the terms and conditions
of the Memorandum of Agreement dated November 20, 1981, which is set forth in Appendix C,
UNDERSTANDINGS, No. 1. Any new job classifications agreed upon by the parties as
provided for in Article XVII, Section 3 shall automatically be included.

Section 3. The Union recognizes that, except as specifically limited by this Agreement, the
basic responsibility for management is reserved to the University.

Section 4. The Union recognizes that the position of Executive Soup Chef is supervisory in
nature, and individuals carrying this title are members of management. Persons in this position
are permitted to perform bargaining unit work for up to fifty percent (50%) of their normal
workweek.


ARTICLE III
UNION SECURITY AND CHECK-OFF

Section 1. All present employees covered by this Agreement shall, as a condition of
employment, become and remain members of the Union in good standing thirty (30) days after
the signing of this Agreement.
