Minutes of the Free Library Health and Safety Committee

July 23, 2002


Committee Members in Attendance:  Joe Perry, Rich Somers, Carolyn Hale, Michele Belluomini, Hal Rosenberg, Joe MePeak, Lillian Randolph, Sondra Corry, and Carol Boardman.

Security - Central - Joe Perry reviewed the latest incidents (Collection Development Office and the Art Department).  Rich Somers gave the Security Department's assessment and recommendations.  Joe McPeak and Rich will be sending out a notice to all Central departments and offices.   The notice will give guidelines on how to prevent theft of personal property.  (The notice, AC #02-09, was sent on July 25, 2002).

Health - Central - Misuse of the public bathrooms was discussed.  Rich Somers will investigate and report back to the Committee.

Deep Cleaning of Central - No activity was reported by the Committee members present.

The following agenda items were discussed and tabled until next meeting.

Staff Bathooms - Central - Work has started in the repair to the hot air hand dryer in the ladies second floor staff bathroom.

BSR's have been submitted for:

- hot air hand dryers in the ladies first floor staff bathroom and the men's ground and second floor men's staff bathroom.

- manual flush buttons for the men's ground floor staff bathroom toilets.

Ceiling Lights in the Art and Literature Departments - Staff have experienced physical discomfort after the installation of new lights.

Rodent problem - Processing Division, Rodin Place - The appearance of rodents in the worksite has been reported to the Buildings Department.

The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 24, 2002.  Location to be announced later.
