Health Care Hearing Continued

Yesterday, Thursday, June 7, Councilman Cohen reconvened the hearing on the City's health
care plan. At that hearing, Joyce Wilkerson testified that the Administration was beginning their
own review of their plan, costs, accountability, etc., but she still did not have one single
document to share with the Law and Government Committee. Bob Olivetti of the City Controller's
Office testified that the Personnel Department had likewise failed to produce anything requested
by the Controller so that the audit of the City's health care plan could begin, as mandated by
David Cohen and the Committee.

Tom Cronin, Rich Costello, Bob McAllister and Wendy Pogracz, Esq. also testified on various
points from the Union's perspective.

The Administration asked for the whole summer to conduct their review and produce the
information requested by the Committee. David Cohen gave them until next Tuesday,
June 12, at 2:30 p.m.
That's when the Committee will reconvene. At that meeting, the
Administration was instructed to bring all information possible and to provide a date
certain when the rest of the requested information would be ready. Several items were
gone over in detail so they would be clear what was expected of them.

So.... once again you are all invited and urged to spend some of your precious time in
City Council Chambers and show your support for DC47's efforts to maintain control of
our health care benefits administration. Yesterday was very entertaining, and Tuesday
is likely to be just as good a show. It is not likely to go long, so please come spend a late
lunch hour with us. And please spread the word to all your coworkers. That's Tuesday,
June 12, 2:30 p.m., City Council Chambers, 4th floor, City Hall. See you there!

In Solidarity, Kathy Black
